Material guide

Not sure which material to choose?

Choose "not sure" when the use case matters more than the material name. The quote review can suggest a practical direction after seeing the geometry.

Illustrative PLA-style 3D printed sample parts on a warm workbench.

PLA

A practical default for simple shapes, display pieces, and budget-aware drafts.

  • Good for early prototypes
  • Good for decor and display models
  • Usually not the first choice for heat or flex

PETG

Useful when a part needs more toughness than a quick draft.

  • Good for functional prototypes
  • Often better than PLA for tougher use
  • Geometry still decides printability

TPU and resin

Flexible and detail-sensitive parts need more context before quoting.

  • TPU can fit straps, grips, gaskets, and bend-friendly ideas
  • Resin can fit small smooth detail work
  • Use, dimensions, and finish notes matter

Common questions

Can PrintYourDuck choose the material?

Yes. Select "not sure" and describe the use case, fit, finish, and rough budget.

Can flexible parts be printed?

Often, but geometry matters. Upload the file for manual review before any payment.

Is resin always better for detail?

Not always. Resin can help on small smooth pieces, but fit, strength, and handling still need review.
