STL, STEP, 3MF, OBJ, ZIP

Upload STL, STEP, or CAD files for a human-reviewed quote.

STL is welcome, and CAD formats such as STEP or STP can be better for precise parts. Add notes so the review can account for fit, material, and quantity.

Accepted upload formats

Use the file that best represents the part. ZIP related files together when needed.

  • STL mesh files
  • STEP or STP CAD parts
  • 3MF project files
  • OBJ models
  • ZIP bundles

Helpful notes

Short project notes usually make the quote more useful.

  • Quantity and whether all parts are identical
  • Material preference or "not sure"
  • Fit, tolerance, finish, or strength expectations
  • Where the part will be used and any budget target

CAD to print workflow

CAD exports can make review cleaner when the part has fit, holes, or dimensions that matter.

  • STEP or STP is usually best for precise parts from Fusion, SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar CAD tools
  • STL, 3MF, and OBJ are still useful for meshes, scans, figures, and many exported models
  • Include critical dimensions in the notes when the part must fit another object
  • If the model was generated by code or AI, include the intended use and any known weak points

Fast no boundaries

Some requests are declined before quoting.

  • Weapons or weapon parts
  • Regulated defense, defence, aerospace, or medical-device parts
  • No safety-critical or load-bearing parts are accepted
  • Files the customer cannot legally use

Common questions

Is STEP better than STL?

For precise CAD parts, STEP or STP can preserve cleaner geometry. STL is still fine for many mesh exports.

Can I upload a CAD file for 3D printing?

Yes. STEP and STP files are accepted, along with STL, 3MF, OBJ, and ZIP. Add notes about fit, dimensions, and use case.

Can instant pricing replace review?

No. Instant pricing can be useful but it does not replace review of fit, geometry risk, and practical constraints.

How many files can I upload?

The public quote form accepts 1 to 5 files, with the current upload limits shown in the form and API docs.

Can I ZIP an assembly?

Yes. ZIP is accepted for related files, assemblies, or grouped print jobs.
